15th time lucky?

I'm going to call this now. Meryl Streep will recieve her 17th Oscar nomination for her role in The Iron Lady. They haven't finished filming it but based on this picture, and her track record for character performances, she has this one in the bag. Who knows maybe this could bring her the gold for the third time!

The Best and Worst: BAFTA 2011

It was a tough one tonight wading through all the dresses trying to find ones that were worthy of some glorification. Unfortunately tonight, The BAFTA's have been a huge disappointment in the fashion stakes.

Major misses go to;

Sarah Harding (far too much red),

Thandie Newton (patterned pink , and my, was it pink!),

Neve Campbell (a bra might have been a good idea),

Hayley Steinfield (the words bejewelled librarian come to mind), and

Meredith Ostrom (someone should tell her less is not always more).

It wasn't all bad, mind.

Honorable mentions go to;

Eva Green in a very seductive black lace number by Tom Ford.

Julianne Moore wowed in a stunning crushed blue velvet Tom Ford number, whilst on the arm of Tom Ford. Lucky girl.

Surprisingly, Kimberely Walsh from Girls Aloud has made the list , in a beautiful long sleeved, low cut cream and snowflake dress by Ashish. Very old school glamour.

Rachel Stevens looked fantastic in a strapless bejewelled cream dress by Isabel Marant.

Livia Giugioli, wife of Colin Firth, in Nina Skarra. Its eco friendly, though I have no idea how that works. I want it. And her husband. Pphhhwooarrr.

But dress of the night belongs to the gorgeous Gemma Arterton who has turned the to dark side with a gorgeous new black hairdo, ruby red lippy, and to top it all off, a magnificent crushed black velvet dress, complete with over the top blue bow, designed by Yves Saint Laurent. The dark side welcomes you Gemma. Fantastic.
